I would think that there are numerous things that could be done to make your vehicle even more secure. For me the real question is do I want it back after its stolen..For me the answer is no. I would rather just get a new one via my insurance company.
there is a device, i cant remember the name, it is the most recomended by police departments, it disables the ignition of the car. it is protected by an aluminum case. when you leave your car, there is a small key that you remove. they can then get in your car but it will not start.
car and driver magazine did an article on car theft 2 issues ago and they mentioned this device.

Your biggest threat is from a rollback truck or repo wrecker.
Yep, that's it. There's very little chance a car thief will be able to drive your car away, unless he's carjacking you and it is already running, or you otherwise give the thief direct access to the fob. So a wrecker is the way it will be stolen. The best protection is to park it where it isn't accessible by wrecker, and never let the fob out of your direct possession.
So how do they scoop up your car with a wrecker?
do they have to have full front or rear access?
Meaning, if you were parallel parked, with cars or other objects in front of and behind the car, the wrecker couldn't get it ?

As long as they can get a line on it, they can drag it to a position where they can winch it aboard. Remember that wreckers are used to recover horribly wrecked cars all the time. The operators know how to snake a car out of any place they can get a line on it. So it needs to be in a place where they can't get a line on it. An example would be deep in a parking structure with ceiling too low for the truck to enter.

All correct. On the other hand, dragging a undamaged car sideways out of a parking spot tends to attract attention that a car thief doesn't want. Especially if you are around. So your parking position can be something of a deterrant. Someone also suggested leaving an empty pistol holster on your seat.
