Default Tire Experts come inside!

Is this patch acceptable. The tires is a GY F1 Supercar 285/35-19 and has over 90% of its tread left.

GoodYear replaced one of my tires FREE when a plug was too close to the sidewall to hold. Check your GoodYear pamphlet that came with the car. Take it with you to a GoodYear-certified dealer if/when that patch doesn't hold. Road hazard warranty is good for the first 2/32" of tread or 12 months, whichever comes first.

I would not trust that repair. Talk to them about a new tire.

It is hard to tell from the picture how close it it to the curvature of the outside tread/shoulder. I will venture a guess that it will probably be OK because of the structure of these types of tires. They are very flat right out to the sidewall with very little curvature. If it was a higher series tire, like a 70 or 75 aspect ratio it would definitley be a problem. As the tire flexes it rolls the patch loose. There is very little flex in the EMTs. If you do lose air again, don't let them try again or worse yet, plug it, just replace it.

IMO The tire is now a big question mark because of the patch. The patch appears to be very close to the sidewall. Do you really want that question mark in your head whan you are driving your AWESOME Corvette? I wouldn't!

Can you shoot the other side to see where the hole is in the tread? It makes a difference...

I can not find a mark on the other side, but here is the area:

Feeling the patch, this is my best estimate of where the center of the patch is located:

Thats too close to the side wall (IMO) but it'll probably hold up ok. (for daily driving). I would try and get goodyear to replace it.

I wouldn't want it on my car but it will probably hold. If you have good tread on your other tire then now is the time to replace this one!

Usually it has to be in the belt area to be repairable. That repair is way past the optimal location for a good repair.

Too questionable in my opinion...and I don't want anything questionable on my Corvette.

No tire expert here but from my undersstanding of how these are designed that fix is too close. Probably be okay but I would ask Goodyear some more questions re: replacement.
Best of luck.

Too close to tell. It is 50-50 that it will hold. If you can get a free replacement then that would be the best way to go.
