I think those are the steering angle sensors. I don't know this for a fact, but I think the accelerometer that indicates the car is in yaw or in a crash is located near the center mass of the vehicle. Since this measures "G" force, this may be where the HUD gets the information.

they same sensors are on the rear too, which lead me to believe they are the yaw sensors.
But i do not know for sure.
The yaw rate sensor (latteral accelerometer) is located in the center console area just under the radio/climate control..
A yaw rate sensor is not the same thing as a lateral accelerometer. You could be spinning on ice and have a very high yaw rate but 0 lateral acceleration. Or perhaps GM has found a way to make one sensor do both jobs.
