If you read the owners manual, you'll see that they say not to tint the windows w/ NAV.
:o I'll be damned, you're right. Below is what it says in the Navigation System manual on page 2-55:
Notice: Do not apply after-market glass tinting to the vehicle's windows. Glass tinting will interfere with the system's ability to receive GPS signals and cause the system to malfunction. You might have to replace the window to correct the problem. This would not be covered by your warranty.

Also, there are discussions regarding this topic here in CF including pix of NAV showing that there is no signal in some members cars that have metallic tint... SNIP SNIP...The non-metallic doesn't block as much sunlight as the metallic. It's a trade-off. Do you want the most tint, or do you want to avoid problems w/ NAV and radar detector.

I have 35% front and rear non-metallic tint and have had no problems with my nav working. I get Lumar tinting from my installers and although I have some minor issues with the dots, it is not something that cannot be corrected which I am going to have taken care of tonite.

At night, unless there is a car with their headlights on directly in back of you cannot see anything. Unless you put your window down and look in the outside rear-view mirror you cannot see any illumination from your back-up lights. Forget it if there is fog or wetness of any kind on the glass!
FWIW,
I don't have the factory Nav but often use a portable Garmin which I move from one car to the next. I've had zero problems navigating with any of my three cars, two of which have metallic tint.
Any Albuquerque members with a recommendation for a local tint company?
bh747 This is Joseph Cordova in albuquerque NM.---Try Tint Masters ask for Berry as he is the owner.---or ask for Sean at A Touch of glass on eagle ranch road & caminito coors both in albuquerque NM. Both are excellent tint shops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had my new 2007 coupe tinted today with Diamond 35% all around. I thought that 20% in the rear was too dark and made it very hard to see out of already distorted back window.
