Yesterday, it was 99 degrees here. When I got in my Black C6 the temp reading in the car was 110 degrees. This morning when I got in the car and headed for work the top was creaking with every bump I hit on the road. Sooooooooooo! Is this the first sign of top delamination or is this normal. I've only had my 2006 C6 for a little over 3 weeks and she only has 533 miles on her. The top has never creaked before. Hmmmmm! Maybe I should buy the plexiglas top just in case. What do you think?!

Excessive heat is the condition under which a roof is likely to de-laminate. I would get it checked out ASAP. Maybe you will be lucky and only need to apply some silicone to the attach points, but under the conditions you describe it may well be failing. Good luck.
Hang in there buddy, dont panic yet. Mine squeaks only when I get out of my driveway and is fine during normal cruising. Upon inspection my top seems fine so far. keep an eye on it and check for separation, if none you are ok for now. good luck.
My 2005 C6 joined the ranks of the delaminated painted tops yesterday. It was the first time in quite a while that I put the painted top on and it was 108 degrees. The back of the top was almost a half inch above the rear window line when I went to drive home. The glue had let go all along the back edge as well as along the sides. At least I have the Lexan top to keep me out of the weather until the dealer can find a new top for me.
BTW - Mine was "repaired" a few months back so the repair process is useless in the long run.

Mine was behaving like this. I have never had the roof off in 7,500 miles. I opened the levers and re-seated the roof. Creaking went away except in extreme cases.....ie. steep angle driveway.
Mine creaks when I'm at uneven payments like the driveway or going over speed bumps. Should I be concerned? Date built in 3rd week of June 06 before the production of the 07s.
I have had mine since 11/05 it has creaked and popped since the first week I had it. I check it daily and so far no problems. I have not received anything from GM about a recall.
Picked up my C6 Coupe 15 Dec 05. It started creaking about two months ago. The rear center section of the top came loose last week. I put on the clear top, got an appointment, and took it in this Monday. They still have it. I am supposed to get it back today. I also have the serivice active handling system flagged, rear end grind during slow turns, and A6 transmission shift hunt problems. So much for a $50K+ car.
I went for a short drive at lunch and even though the roof is still creaking in the 98 degree heat, there doesn't seem to be any signs of roof separation. Of course it'll probably fly off when I hit the highway on the way home today. You'd think that you could buy a killer sportscar for 50K+ that came with a roof that stays in one peace. Oh well!! We love our vettes so, that means they got us. But, I wonder if Mercedes and Lexus ever had these problems??!! Ha, Ha, Ha!!
Mine started creaking a couple of weeks ago. This past weekend the roof let go completely but stayed on the car. My dealer tells me that it's too late for a temporary foam fix and it will be 4 to 6 weeks before I see a new top.
I now have no top and my dealer asked me to choose between a mid-sized rental car or keeping my vette with no top while I wait. I chose to keep my vette for now but the heat and lack of security may force me to switch to the rental. I'd like to be able to switch back and forth between the two cars depending on weather and my driving needs. Unfortunately, the dealer says I must leave my vette on his lot in order to qualify for the rental.
Take your car in asap. If your separation is limited, you may get a temporary foam fix.
Despite this pain in the neck, buying the Vette was the best decision I ever made and I absolutely love the car. That's why it's so hard to give it up for a rental car.
Good Advise!! And, it seems that I'm going to need it. My roof has delaminated about 8 inches toward the back. I already made a service appointment for first thing Friday morning. I can take the roof off and put it in the back to get the 4 miles to work but, after no rain here for weeks, it's a chance of showers in the next couple of days. Wow!! What great timing, huh?! I guess I'm lucky to get this out of the way now. The wife and I have a 1200 mile round trip planned next month. I'm just going to have to keep repeating to myself, "I love my C6, I love my C6, I do, I do, I dooo!!!" I haven't even had my C6 long enough to make the first payment yet, teething problems already!! Oh well!! All this will be old news in a couple of weeks, I hope!!
There are spacers available to stop the squeeking. I read about them somewhere on the Forum. My dealer knew about them when I asked and ordered and installed them all under warranty. They actually seem to work.
Mine creaks so I took it in for inspection and for legal reasons. Dealer said it was fine. I would take it in due to the legal issues involved. Be carefull if they glue your top as some dealers have slopped glue on the top and headliner and it is very hard to get off.
Ed, I got your e-mail with the photo's. 3 weeks old and the top is coming apart. As I mentioned I put my soild top back on 3 weeks ago hoping this St Louis heat would cause mine to fail. No such luck.
As I mentioned in my e-mail, take it to Jack Schmitt, they will treat you right. Let me know what they will do, as I understand it the new SMC won't be available for a week or two.
If necessary you can borrow my glass top.
Call or drop me a note when you know what's going on.
Thanks guys! I would love to get a plexiglas top but, I bought the C6 three weeks ago and the wife has to go on the promised jewelry shopping spree before I can get anything else vettewise. And I doubt if they'll be much left in the family coffers when she gets through. Ha, Ha, Ha! For a while I'm stuck with the delaminated top until the dealer fixes it.
