There are a number of threads discussing adding a sub to improve the stereo performance. From what I read, this sounds like a simple and easy DIY effort but want to confirm.

It sounds like the wiring is simple by connecting the rear speaker in the trunk. If this is true, this is something I want to do.

If you know what you're doing with car audio it's not a terribly difficult project, but it's not as straight forward as installing a box and hooking in some wires. At the very least you'll have to tap into the audio output of the head unit and wire in power for an amplifier.
It sounds as if you may be referring to something like the JL Audio Stealthbox sub, the only model they have for C6 right now is for coupes, it does NOT fit convertibles. Word is they are working on a solution for verts but it is not yet available.
Head over to the Audio/Electronics section, there is an FAQ for C6 audio. Lots of good info in there.
