DBS: Possible Solution
After 2 years and several incidents of DBS on my 05 6 speed, the dealer may have discovered the problem. The computer stored a fault code for the steering column module which was failing to communicate with the car's main computer. This allowed the car to stay awake. The amount of amps that this would draw would run the battery dead in 2 days, which is the norm for DBS. After starting and turning off the car while hooked up to the computer, a fault code, "column lock failure to communicate" would trigger on every third or 4th shutdown. The new module is coming in from Bowling Green today. This repair will be forwarded to the GM Tech network after 30 days if my car's issues appear to be resolved. I have long felt that DBS was tied into the column lock and maybe this is the breakthough. We'll see.
On a sidenote; The day before this discovery GM Customer Assistance had advised me to "Refer to my owner's manual for proper shutdown procedures on vehicles equipped with a manual transmission." I almost flipped my cork. Anyway, Let's hope this resolves it for me and many of you that have suffered from this.
That's great news. Wow, imagine if you are the person that helped to solve DBS. You'll be a hero, there will be parades, talk show appearances, a spot in the Corvette Hall of Fame.
Seriously, I'm afraid that there are many little quirks in the car that can cause this type of issue. The battery run down protection will ignore too many of these very low current draw issues. I hope that this takes care of your issue once and for all. You'll need to PM me what service department you worked with on this one. It sounds like they may be a keeper. I'm always looking for the best dealers to handle service issues with. Take it easy.

Hi Paul. I believe it is the solution for my car. Wether it solves other people's problems remains to be seen. I didn't go to Star's because of the Tropical Storm starting rain early on the Cape.
