Well i thought the stock short shift was short untill yesterday. I went with my dad to test drive the new 997 turbo. What a car! The owner let us take his car for about an hour, and that was one of the most fun hours i ever had. The shifter is the shortest shift EVER! You really dont feel like your shifting. And that car was soo freaking fast. Didnt think anything could be that much faster then the C6. We put our order in for one as soon as the cabrio verision comes out (It was prity much the best car i have ever driven) I still love my C6 and wouldnt trade it for anything. But my question is where can i get a shifter that short for my C6?
Thanks

Well, for a lot less money you can get a Z06, 505 hp, which is similarly fast. I've never driven a p-car but my NSX had a really smooth shifter too. I put a Hurst short-shifter on my stock C5 and it made it a lot shorter, so I imagine that if you put a Hurst on this already short stock C6 shifter, that it will be even shorter.
However, my personal feeling is that you are never going to get a really smooth, buttery, shifter on a Corvette transmission. It's probalby always going to be a little notchy no matter what you do.
There's an unintended consequence to a short shifter: hitting the shift boot. To put a round, threaded billet **** from a C5 on mine I cut off the flat ~1/2 top of the shift rod and cut threads onto it. With the **** on I found the bottom of the shift **** touches the boot. I don't know my glove size, but I have average sized hands. Shaq would never be able to shift it. lol
