Rambo has a good answer.......once repaired it should be as good as new.....I bought a BMW that I also didn't make it home with (no grease in the rear end) after they replaced the rear end it was never a problem again.
My dealrship in Pompano Fla ,is begining to let me down.
The nightmare started on Saturday.
Traded my 05 c6 coupe for a 3lt vert mn6,took delivery ,left the store and it had transmission failer a half a block away.
You took delivery, so therefore lemon laws may be your only recourse. You may or may or may NOT be protected by "buyer's remorse" clause available in a number of states. Basically some states allow you to return the vehicle in 30 days and xxx miles.
I wouldn't be happy either, but sometimes stuff happens. Luckily it wasn't the body, motor, or frame that was broken. Some tranmission repairs are really minor, like a loose hose, a stuck solenoid, or low tranmission fluid.
well, my opinion of US union labor is about as low as it can go so I won't say that the trans would be any 'better' if it had been built in the US. However, it was built in a third world nation.
I though that they drove these cars off the line and around the plant to detect immediate failures like this?
Yes, moving vette production to Japan would not solve all problems but I'd much rather buy a C6 made entirely in Japan than in the US and assorted places around the planet.
As many say, 'remember, ironing out little problems is just part of the vette ownership experience'.
Your experiences just began rather soon........
Whatever happened to incoming QA inspection that this could happen?
OH, I know, the mexicans do outgoing QA inspection so no worries up norte.
I don't blame you at all for being pissed off, but it's not the Dealer's fault. I guess I would want to know exactly what was wrong and what the repair is. Tranny or clutch failure? If it was major, I would demand a brand new tranny/clutch replacement, nothing less. But then, if done, I'd take the car and not worry about it. Good luck!
I'm sorry for your aggravation and I do understand your feelings about wanting another car, however, how can you purchase a car, take possession, take title, drive it off, have a problem and expect the dealership to exchange it for a another new car?
Assuming it was titled to you, the dealership would then be taking back a 'used' car and exchanging it for a new one....I'm all for promoting good will but I don't think they're obligated to do that. Again, I certainly understand your feelings and as sh**ty a circumstance as this is....I would think the dealership's obligation would be to repair the originally purchased vehicle under the warranty.
BTW, I sincerely hope they do provide you with a new, replacement car. They may not be obligated but it would be the 'right' thing to do. Good luck!
Although I would feel the exact same way as you do. I bought my BMW Z3 roadster new in 2000. The first week, while showing off the new toy at work, I blew the clutch
The dealer was extremely nice, gave me a loaner, and replaced the whole clutch, gears and anything else that I busted! All within 3 days.
Like I said earlier, I bought my C6 from Abby as well. He's just a sales weasel, and I'm sure he will help you with what he can. If it was titled to you, then your only recourse might be the repair. IF done right, you shouldn't have more problems.
Hey nuvetteowner - Sorry to hear about some bad luck you're having.
If you would take a few minutes, I and probably others would like to know what happened to a brand new Tremac 6-speed transmission as you were driving home from your delivery to cause a failure.
Besides all of the other existing problems with '05/'06 coupes, convertibles and Z06 models, it looked like the MN6 6-speed manual transmission was still very reliable with no issues.
Is your convertible an '06 or a new 2007?
I am ordering a 2007 coupe as soon as all the roof panel problems are totally solved by Chevrolet, and I need a MN6 Tremac 6-speed manual transmission for weekend autocross and SCCA events.
Thank you and good luck getting a new Corvette! Don't take no s$#t!!
ITS A NEW 06 VERT.
It happened within a block of the dealership.
It just would not go into any gear, like it just locked out from going into gear. Car had 20 miles on it
My A6 went kaput 10 days ago and Maroone had a new one overnighted in to replace the bad one. Probably the same thing will happen with yours so take one of these with a stiff drink and calm down:

I bought a Yukon XL, took it back the next day and told them I wanted the other color/eqipment package. No problem at alll.

Hard to say what the issue is, but if it won't go into any gears, I don't think its the CAGS. (I'm assuming its a manual). Could be something as simple as a linkage coming loose.
It is your car, would it matter if it happened the next day or in the next week? I think not. It sucks, but it is what it is.
Do you agree with me about not wanting it after they send it out to a transmission shop for repairs?
Oh Yeah. I MIGHT be forced into my minimum fall-back position (new tranny unless it's something superficial)...BUT, not until they had experienced all the wrath of one of my super hyper hissy fits with extreme profanity and wild-eyed threatening gesticulation for a NEW CAR!!!
