Default How about the interior

I have not seen too much talk about the C6 interior. That will probably be the last thing we see, and I think it will probably be updated, but how much?
I love the current seats and HUD, but there are other things that I don't like. I have held off on buying a C5 for just that reason. The TA leaves a lot to be desired, so please no flames. I am either getting a C6 or 2003 Viper and the TA will remain a daily driver.

Anyone have any thoughts about upcoming changes?
What are your currrent complaints if any?

I do not own a C5, however my father does. I myself own a 98 Camaro SS. The one thing that puzzles me is that basically the materials of the interior (dash, radio controls, stalks) are pretty much the same in both cars.. just laid out a little differently.

I hope that the C6 interior will do the outside of the car more justice. Dont get me wrong i love the layout of the current Corvette interior.. its just that the materials dont live up to a $40,000+ sports car...especially GM's flagship.

I hope that they do a better job with the quality of materials and fit and finish. In these two areas I dont think my C5 is any better than my 1996 C4. :( Also I think (in my C5) that the radio and the HVAC controls should be swaped (radio on the bottom/HVAC on top) JMHO :D

I would love to have less of a plastic feel to the interior. For the most part, everything is laid out pretty well for me (you know, now that you mention it I would like the radio and HVAC switched, I keep turning up the heat when I want more volume). A little brushed aluminum or carbon fiber (even simulated) would really dress up the interior.

I'd also like adjustable peddles. When I get the seat and steering wheel in a position I like, I can't push the peddles to the floor (even with the steering column retracted all the way). To be able to push the accelerator and clutch around would do wonders for my comfort.

I agree, the interior needs to be improved. I think my C5 was better than my 96, but not as good as it should be for a $45k car. I was sure of this fact when I purchased my A6. For a car in the same price range, the quality of the interior materials, and fit-and-finish are WAY ahead of the Vette. The Vette has better seats, but everything else in the interior is better in my A6(and it has a lot more interior).

A friend of mine was at the B-day Bash and was talking to the woman in charge of designing the C6 interior. He asked her point blank about what it was going to be like. He said the Audi TT has been the hot ticket with everyone for interior design and he wasn't much in favour of carbon-fiber or leather everything, but he really liked the use of aluminum. The C5 has been criticized for being too "plasticy." She told him that he would not be disappointed. I believe if you read between the lines on this there will be use of aluminum on the C6 interior :D

I love the Audi Interior. Glad to hear we might get something like it. I almost got an S4 last year but decided to wait and see if it gets more power.
What a trade off huh?

Leather, carbon fiber, aluminium or whatever else they see fit to use... it's all good. I would expect their to be cost for use of more 'exotic' materials though. It could still be plastics for all I care... so long as they noticeably improve durability and fit.

I would hope to see the following:

A real storage/glove box and console.

Carbon Fiber trim and plating.

A new metal and polished shifter that's not so cheap feeling and looking.

Better ergonomics and quality.

Just my .02 worth, only time will tell.

Jeff

All the above points are well taken. I am Corvette thru and thru. My only frame of reference, i.e., point of comparison with my C5 is the C4 I just sold. The C5 interior/exterior is way better. Acceleration, ride, braking, etc. is superior in every way to the C4. I don't worry about or even think about Audis, BMW, Porsches, etc, etc, etc. My $42,00.00 was well spent. The only other car I would consider buying would be a C6. Literally, I would rather push my C5 than drive any of the rest. Call me irrational, but SAVE the WAVE!!!!!
