dealer only had FOB 2 when i purchased car, they got me the number 1 FOB and programmed to the car.
works good only thing is I cannot program anything says OPTION NOT AVAILABLE is there anything i can do short of going to the dealer and reprogramming both they said it takes about an hour
i have same problem as you. dealer lost #1 fob and i received #2 fob with car. dealer ordered new fob with #1 marked on it but when they set it up they did not wipe computer clean. you can't program options because car sees new fob as #3 fob. you can have up to 4 fobs programmed to car and only #1 and #2 can set options on DIC. computer has to be wiped clean and reprogram fobs 1 and 2.

This is correct. I lost #1 FOB, ordered a new one, the technician printed out the instructions on how to program the FOBs from the GM service manual they have on-line, and it gives 4 different methods to do this, and when the technician used the shorter method (trying to save time) to reprogram the replacement FOB, (I was with him the entire time) we had similar results. The personalized settings were not accepted. After trying several times, he went to the long method, where you reprogram the car and both FOBs, takes over 10 minutes each step, and all is now normal. FOB #1 and FOB #2 each work as they are supposed to. Later I found the original FOB #1, it would not work at all, so I tried to program it as FOB #3, works perfectly, indicates FOB #3 on DIC. Keep it now as a spare, just in case. Also note, when performing the long method, it must be done exactly as written, step-by-step.

Can this only be done by the dealer tech? I cannot get the car to recognize FOB 3 (which is really my second FOB).
Any idea where I can find the instructions if I can do this myself?
