Dash Trim Kit
The console part will not come off as per GM's instructions. You must also lift the emergengy brake boot and remove the 2 bolts in the side of the console. The electrical connectors are of varied designs and require some enginuity to figure them all out. The rear power outlet at the back of the console plate requires a special tool for removal. I stopped by my dealer and he removed it with the tool. It just snaps back in to the new piece. There are also about 6 pieces of black padding on the back side of the console trim that you can peel off and re-stick to the new part. This padding helpa reduce rattles. Mo mention of any of these thing in the instructions from GM. If you have F55 you must re-use ythe same black switch plate. You cannot use the new body colored piece. I must say though, that putting it all back is quite easy and everything snaps in nicely.
I am going to pay my dealer to change the IP part. You have to remove the ignition, IP light, power top and various other connectors and switches. With the poor instructions from GM, it is just too risky. For the price of this kit, GM should have spent a little more time on the installation instructions. That would have made life much easier.
I must also give a big THANK YOU to Pete from this forum for his post, without which I would have not been able to do the job.
