Found this from Ken,
I took delivery of a new Atomic Orange Convertible (sequence number 15, VIN 64) a week or so ago.
Last night I drove it for the first time and have these observations:
1) The underhood lamp has been eliminated
2) I cannot view any of the gages in the HUD like I could with a C5
3) I cannot view my telephone number, the number that I am calling, or my personal calling minutes remaining in the DIC like I could with my last C6
4) The new color is very nice but was applied very thinly in some spots
5) I did not receive the new fob
6) The trunk won't open completely with the remote. It hangs up.
7) Steering wheel radio controls. Very limited in what they can do. There should be controls that allow access to other functions, i.e. OnStar, DIC settings, etc.
8) I was forced to order a power top to get the other nice features in the package. The top is not fast at all. I can get out and put the top down and then back up manually on a non-power top car faster than the power top.

Hmmm, this one of those times when you wish you were in the room when these decisions were made. Why remove information from the HUD that was already there? What's the point of putting controls on the steering wheel that are as limited as it sounds like they are. My wife's Ford Freestyle has controls on the steering that control the radio/CD/MP3 player such as moving from song to song, changing the volume, mute the radio, and change stations. Other controls on the wheel access the Information Center to view information such as average miles per gallon etc.. and reset functions.
I've always thought that one control that should be on the Corvette steering wheel is the button to activate the voice commands for the NAV radio. It's kind of weird to reach over to the radio to push the button so that you can use a voice command.
Oh well, I wasn't in the room when these decisions were made and they didn't ask me.
Not originally. I think there was a reprogram that was made to some to allow this, but originally, the 05 Navs would not play the MP3s. The GM literature originally said they would, but that was incorrect.

All '05s with NAV either are capable of, or can easily be made capable of, playing MP3s.
As an '05 owner with NAV I can attest that there were indeed '05s delivered near the end of the model year which came from the factory capable of playing MP3s.
Secondly the upgrade is a very simple one if your '05 with NAV does not already play MP3s. That upgrade can be done by the owner in about 30 minutes, or by the dealership.
It sounded like that was just a quick observation. A piece of paper came with my 06 that said the car was shipped with the underhood light disconnected to protect the battery.
Anyone with an 07 know for sure whether or not the underhood light was eliminated or just disconnected?

It has been eliminated. The hood liner does not have the square hole where the light was in the 05 and 06.

wow....i think someone needs to ban me off the corvetteforum...after logging on and chatting it up with you c6 guys...i just placed an offer on a 05 with only 9 thousand km :o (now my fingers are crossed hoping he accepts tomorrow)
(i maybe the proud owner of a 05 yellow convertable with every available option)
another quick question...its an 05 the person says every available option but it doesn't have that XM radio thing on the back trunk lid.. like this one (garys car)
could it be missing something??? it is a 05 with navi
