Default Noticeable improvement…

I now have about 4500 miles on my vette. While taking a little cruise this morning I discovered a notable improvement in performance. I should add I usually run with all the NANNY sitters switched off. Rolling away from a stop light at 5 mph on dry pavement I nailed it (WOT). To my delight and surprise it totally smoked the tires! I mean it smoked em to the point where the car was walking sideways. It burned right through 1st gear and put down some impressive tire marks on the pavement. Let me say that was fun and something I had hoped this car would do when I bought it. yea yea.. I know about the expensive tires but I bought this thing to have some fun with and that was fun! So I’ll be replacing tires sooner than normal but if want to play you gotta pay. My point is once this LS2 engine loosens up I think it finally starts feeling quick. I still have plans for bringing it up to 460 to 475 hp but at least it’s starting to feel more like the beast I wanted!

I agree those are important factors and they helped. On the other hand I've tried the same thing more than once already with about the same road and air temp conditions. It simply didn't perform like it did this morning. I've been building and racing cars for the track for about 25 years and know when an engine is working right. I'll be doing more performance tests that's for sure....

Craig,

Enjoying the ride are we. This mornings cold temps are just perfect for these engines. The LSx engine picks up something like 1 hp for every 10 degree drop in temperature. They love that cold dense air.

Actually, you will pick up closer 5 hp for every 10 degree drop. It sucks to drive this car in 118 degree weather, but it is great at 60 degrees (just don't have many 60 degree days here in the Phoenix area).
