Does the A6 blip the throttle on downshifts.I've heard it aclimates to your driving style so shifts get quicker as it learns your driving style.I drove a new BMW M6 today and as a die hard manual guy( I can't believe I'm saying this but) I loved that transmission.Blips the throttle on downshift and it shifts faster than I could ever imagine. If the A6 is close thats the tranny for me.I never liked the shift feel of my C6( felt clunky compared to my S2000) plus my wife can't drive a stick so I never took it on long trips.Seems like the A6 might work even for a die hard stick guy.Whats the opinion of manual owners gone A6?I know the M6 is SMG but is the A6 even close,it got great reviews from the car mags?
I'm a die hard stick guy that bought the A6 so that wife and kids could drive it and also because the manual is not that great. The A6 is OK, but it's no SMG. There is about a 1/2 second delay on upshifts that I can't stand. In the quarter mile, it's quicker to put it in S and let it shift automatically. However, that sure is boring. I haven't run it yet in a Solo 2 event, but I'm looking forward to it. There is one posting of a guy that drove the A6 at Spring Mountain and was quicker in the A6.
I have noticed that in Sport mode it tends to match the "intent" of the driver and throttle position. If you nail it and hold it down it'll shift briskly right at red line. Thats with all the "safety" stuff turned on.. In drive mode the shifts are more gradual.
I can't actually see a blip in the throttle, but GM claims that it happens. And the downshifts have much less "clunk" than an A4, so I think that the blip does exist.

Thanks I did test drive one and complained to the salesman about the delay in shifts and he said "after a few thousand miles it learns that you want to shift fast and responds".I actually kind of liked how easily and smoothly it shifted in auto mode but the lag with the paddles was weird.I really felt my z-51 was only smooth at wot runs and I really want my wife to be able to drive the next one.Guess life is always about compromises. The BMW M6 SMG( I know its 105k) was so outstanding,I have never driven such a fine automobile before, hey life is about compromises and the C6 is still faster.
