My trial subscription for XM expires Aug. 23. Is there a catch to using the ZWINBACk promotion? I only ask because I called to continue my subscription and they said I had to let it expire to take advantage of the discount.
Since XM isn't exactly known for their customer service, I thought I should get a second opinion.
I was able to get the $77 rate one month into my 3 month free trial. XM added 12 months onto the 3 month trial back in July of 2005. When I called XM earlier this month to try for another 12 months I was told by two different people that they could not renew again for $77 until my subscription expired. One said they could cancel the subscription and then try to add the $77 rate, but I figured since I still have 2 months left, I will wait until just before it expires and then go through the XM Renewing Maze
I posted this scenario yesterday. Just renewed for my second year at $77 plus tax. Hope you have taken your credit card number off file with them and don't give it to them ever or they will auto bill you. When you call XM it goes to India where you talk to scripted people that really don't help. You must be persistent and ask for someone who can approve the $77 deal or you don't want their service. Once they transfer you to Jamaica (they handle the promos though you are told there is no promo dept.) they will help you and talk like actual people. I had to let my expiration date of 8/1 come and go and they said theywould bill me. I got a higher rate notice about 8/3 and disregarded that then about 8/6 I did get my $77 bill. There is about a thirty day grace period, so you won't get shut off. XM can be frustrating for sure, but persist!!!!!!!!
I am in pain listening to XM the last 4 days> I am ordering the Sirius convetor ASAP, but if they say it must expire, it must have to expire first. I am suprised though because they will bend over backwards to sign people up now.
We got our vette 3 months ago. I actually forgot about renewing the XM and received a call from them Saturday. They had tried to call us several other times (according to caller ID). Anyway, they asked if I wanted to renew it for $149.00, I told them I thought there was a discount price of $77, they didn't even blink an eye. She told me "Of Course" and that is what I got. However, I'm afraid I gave them my credit card number. I guess I will have to wait and see what happens next year. THANK YOU FORUM FRIENDS for telling me we could get it for $77. It was quite easy. I was ready to argue, but they didn't say a word. Best of Luck!!!
Thanks for the insight. I had made the mistake of giving XM my credit card once before when I had an Avalanche. When they automatically charged it, I cancelled everything and promised myself to not do it again.
I'll try calling again tomorrow. Maybe I'll get lucky and talk to someone with a clue. One would think they can just add to what's left on my trial period.
