Default help needed ,top seperation

took my 06 in to dealer today, painted top had about 40% seperation best I can tell.asked to get a new top and was told they would have to do a repair and then if that failed then I would be able to get a new top. Called customer service to explain the obvious that the same defective adhesive was on the rest of the top and would soon also fail, but common sense did not prevail and they would not give me a new top. does anyone else have a similar experence, but was able to get ahold of the right person who could make a proper repair happen? Any help in this area would be grately appreciated.

Read,

http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c5/ken...onbulletin.pdf

The 'fix' is temp, till your new top comes in. page 4 (9) for z06 and page 11 (4)

If less than 75%, they patch it and you can drive with roof. More than 75% they don't patch, you have to wait for new roof. No need to leave your car there though.

ANY fix is temporary until the recall is officially announced. My dealer was able to order me the new SMC roof because he took the time to call GM directly and some QA dude at BG. They agreed to allow him to order the new roof (over 2 weeks ago) even though the new P/N wasn't available in the parts catalog yet.

Like everybody else here, I received the recall notice and was very hesitant over taking it in. I bought my car in November 2004 and have had creaking and popping for over a year, but the roof has never separated. I took it to the dealer on August 2 and picked it up on August 4. They told me that they would have to order a new roof for me and they should have it in about a week. I've read that a lot of people had to leave the car with the dealership while their roof was being fixed, but I got mine back, minus a headliner. That's probably because my roof hadn't separated yet.

I just called the dealership and they advised me that they had the roof and it is ready to be installed tomorrow (I know, why did I have to call them, shouldn't they call me...) I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the color is right and that I don't have to deal with this again.

All and all the dealership has been great, they did however scratch my car in two places, one on the passenger door and another above the front left wheel. They said they would take care of that tomorrow too when I dropped it off.

Good luck with your roof, hopefully they will handle your issue as quickly as they handled mine.

19152840 is the new PN. Did you try using the search feature? It works.
