Steering wheel removal
I just ordered a new two tone steering wheel from Downsouth Vettes. I know some of the other places insist you talke the car to the dealer to have the wheel installed.
Has anyone installed their own steering wheel ? I am very mechanical (just installed a power steering unit on my 39 Ford coupe) - is this a hard thing to do or is it just because of the airbag ?

I haven't done it with my Vette, but I did remove the airbag steering wheel on my 94 Z28 a couple of years ago to replace the PASS key ignition switch. I was nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof! I had to pull the fuse and wait 45 minutes and then disconnect the yellow wire to the airbag. There are 4 bolts (if I remember right) that held the airbag on. After taking it off, the manual stated to place it on the ground facing up (so it doesn't become a projectile if it goes off!).
After that it was just like taking off any other GM steering wheel, you can use a cheap puller or borrow one from Autozone.
