I am consdering adding a wind deflector to my 2006 C6 Convertable. I would apreciate any advice from experienced owners both happy and not so happy before I purchase something that I might not be happy with.
Problem is it has to be put up and taken down manually every time you want to raise / lower the top, so I never bothered. To expensive for the hassle, imo.
Do a search, there are several threads about them. The purists will tell you its a waste of money and time because you have to put it up and take it down. I personally love mine! It cuts the wind by about half, you can talk normally at 75 and my wife is a happier person. It a win/win for me.
My vettenet and top down valet are the best mods for money spent that I have.. I had them both for my C5 and was the first thing I bought when I got my C6...

tshea, I have the VetteNet on a special pricing thru today and we also have the GM Wind Screen. I can be reached at 406-628-4618, Ext 105 or you can email me at dfichtner@fichtnerchevrolet.com if you would like pricing.
I installed the GM wind deflector couple of weeks ago & am pleased with it. Seems to cut the wind buffeting by about 40%-50%.....more if you raise the side windows, but I don't like the look of a 'vert with the top down & windows up The comments about having to remove the deflector to raise the top are B.S. (IMHO). There's no fastner to remove...the unit just lifts out of the brackets & comes with a neat cover for storage in the trunk (at least the GM unit does). Also, it looks pretty neat. Only slight issue is that the installation instructions tell you to remove the speaker panel, but don't tell you how & the shop manual is also silent. Turns out to be simple....lift the cowling & raise the rear of the top. Look behind the speaker panel....unscrew the two fastners that the trunk netting hooks onto....ignore the two protrusions that look like fastners adjacent to them. At middle top of panel (also from rear), there are two "pop" fasteners. Remove them & the entire panel can be lifted out of the way. PM me if you need more detail.

Dennis Fichtner
Bought mine through Dennis. Great price and service. Makes for a much better ride with the top down. Since I have the cockpit cover I don't put the top up / down much.
I have one. But, after a couple of times usage I don't use it any longer.
1. As mentioned prior, install then remove kind of a pain.
2. Referenced earlier that it cuts down the noise. Not noticible enough to justify. I have headers and Borla Stingers.
3. The amount of wind reduction is minimal. its more for the wife since my hair is on the minimalist side. From the wifes prespective it doesn't come close to meeting her requirements, so she still wears a hat.
4. Don't like the reduced clearance for my hand in unlatching the cover for the top.
5. Finally, not much into another name plate that states it is a Corvette. I think that is self evident.
PS. My coworkers thinks that all dudes that drive Vettes are old men anyway and of course old men don't have hair. But, then again they both drive Girly Man GTOs.

Your not saying you can raise and lower the top with the wind screen still in place, are you? Just wondering I never tried that; I was kind of scared the top or rear window would hit it. It would be just my luck to bend the heck out of it or rip the top.
I agree with the folks that give it the thumbs up. Mine has been a nice add-on, it surly has cut the wind by close to 1/2.

No... just meant that I don't think it's a big deal to remove the wind screen when you want to raise the top.

Cuts wind about half. If I am going on the highway I put it on. Spendy acc that I found on ebay for $300.
It is kinda of a pita to install for your first installation. Taking on and off when you have the thing installed, takes seriously 10 seconds. Not a big deal like some make it out to be.
Like the look and it does help with wind considerably, especially if you roll the windows up also, but be carefull on installation. I set one of my post to close to the hatch and it took a small piece of paint off the hatch. No biggie. Just drove me nuts when I found it on my new car.
Bottom line if $300 is a lot of money for you, dont do it. If $300 is no big deal, I think it's worth it.
I installed it on my 06 and it does cut the wind by about 50%. You can do it without removing the speaker partition. If you have a power top, finding the electrical connector for the lockout is a bit of a challenge. It is on the passenger side next to the partition switch. I would also cut the carpet after you install the brackets, not before. Also the sealtbelt moulding is held in by push fasteners, not torx bolts as stated in the instructions.
If I'm going to be driving on the highway a distance, I install it and it's a big help. For just normal top down cruising I leave it in the trunk. In the colder weather, with the wind deflector and windows raised it makes a big difference so it extends the top down season in the spring and fall.
What is the "cockpit cover" you are referring to? Is it something different than the VetteNet? Also with the unit you purchased from Dennis do you have to remove the brackets each time you take to windscreen off the car? and one more question, since the VetteNet is a lower profile than the GM windscreen is there any restriction to visability through the rear view mirror?
