Just wondering if any of you guys have done this. My car is my daily driver and naturally, there are some chips on the front end from rocks and pebbles... it dosnt bother me because i know its unavoidable. i just drive the care and enjoy it..
My question is have any of you guys picked up some paint from the dealer and just dabbed some of the tiny knicks/scratches to touch up the paint?
Seems alot more practical, and the damage is not worth removing the whole front end and getting it replaced or completely repainted. I just want to keep the car looking nice and clean.
From: NJ..."the way I saw it, everyone takes a beating sometimes."
I just got my first paint chips last week. Well actually 3 little chips. Damn jersey highways are filthy. Ah well. That's the price you pay for driving the car, but that's why I baught it. The first ones hurt the most though. Anyway, my touch up paint should be here this week so I'll let you know how it turns out. Good luck.
On our C5 and now on our C6, I just used the GM touchup paint very carefully. After the "repair" I would avoid getting my eyes closer than 12" from the paint. Works for me...
Minor paint repairs seem to blend in well with the factory orange peel and slight coat of dust that's always on my car (11,000 miles in 5 months).
Unless you're really **** about the paint & the chips are not too large, the GM touch-up bottles work fine. You should think about a bra though. I don't keep mine on all the time, but if I'm headed say down the Parkway to the Jersey shore or like a trip I just took to Cape Cod, I'll put it on.
I don't have to because I have none because it is protected by SLB. I just removed it for cleaning it and checking front end and it is nice n clean.
What you should also check is your radiator fins. Mine is protected also by SLB. When I didn't have one of these covers on my other cars I would just go down to dealership and get bottle of touch up.
I used the GM touch-up paint on several chips and for the most part they look fine but there is one spot I wished I had used another method on. It bothers me to death, that one spot! It is so noticeable to me! Glad I'm not a painter for a living, I would be in bankruptcy. I had an estimate done for a repaint of the hood, and they gave me two: one for $500 for just the hood and if the paint didn't match, $2,500 for the whole front end. Um, I'm a girl but I'm not STUPID!!!!!

Cover it with a bra if that's possible depending where the blemish is. You can get ones that match the color of your Corvette.

I bought some stuff from paintscratch.com for my VY coupe, and have had some pretty good results. They sell it in basecoat, midcoat, & clearcoat layers so you can get the color match just right. I had a scratch under the fascia all the way down to the plastic, and it is impossible to tell it was ever scratched after layering on the color, clear, wet sand, and polish.
