'07 Top Problems Yet?
Ordered my '07 last week hoping/praying the '07 models might stand a better chance of avoiding the duct tape top. Sounds like GM shoulda included duct tape as an option. Tape: $20 , w/matching color $50, custom tape job by GM technician $350.

I ordered my coupe two weeks ago with a build week of 8/21 so I expect it after Labor Day. The good news is another forum member just picked his 2007 coupe up and weighed the top which came to 24.5 lbs (on a scale with half pound increments)...so it is SMC.
Another member weighed his poly top and it came to 20.9 lbs on a UPS scale. So the math tells us a SMC roof is about 3-4 lbs heavier. Rather than prayer for me, I am taking my scale with me when I pick up my car and weighing that roof BEFORE I write the check. In all probability, it
will be a SMC roof and weigh 24 lbs, so no problemo. But if it weighs 20-21 lbs, I'll make the dealer order me a new SMC roof and pay him AFTER the SMC comes in. For me, the hassle of messing with a poly roof after the sale is far, far greater than the hassle before the sale.

I'm hoping someone else will do the same with the SMC top. The transparent top weighed 20.22 lbs so I can see GM having a new selling point for the transparent top as it will weigh about 4 lbs less. Frank

Hi Frank...now I know who weighed the poly roof! Say, was it 20 lbs and 9 ounces or 20.9= almost 21 lbs? The guy who weighed his SMC roof on the bathroom scale (1/2 lb increments) got 24 and 1/2 lbs. When I get mine in next month, I promise to go to my nearby UPS store and get the SMC UPS weight, that is providing its a true blue SMC roof when I take my bathroom scale with me
