I have an 07. Every time I start the car in my garage the headlights come on. I know I can turn off the automatic feature after I start the car, but is there a way to turn this feature off so that each time I start the car in a garage the headlights do not come on?
I turn the stalk almost at the same time that I start the car. The lights do not come on. After driving for two minutes, I turn the stalk again to put the DRL's on.

Barring a change between the '06 & '07 I'd say no to your question.
One must understand when they've the "Twilight" feature activated & start the car in a dark garage the car's doing what it's supposed to, ie, turn on the headlights.
Could just as well be parked in a dark underground parking garage when then you'd want the headlights to come on, eh?
Program off the "Twilight" feature & activate the headlights manually if it bothers but it's an either or deal.

The headlights will come on whether you've got the twilight option set or not. The only way I've heard of to keep them from coming on is the way Another Yellow described.

They do????
HA!!
I won't even ask why Chevrolet did this, nope, sure won't.
My C5 had this as a fully progammable "on-off" function.
I naturally assumed Chevrolet hadn't changed a feature that seemed to work just fine. (there's a genuine joke in there, y'know)
Another welcome to the future moment for me, I guess.

Maybe so.
But in all honesty, a few seconds after I pull out of the garage the lights turn off (as they're supposed to) anyway, which suited me fine & why I haven't messed with 'em.
Suppose if I had I might've "discovered" what you already know.
turn the stalk to the parking lights position and just leave it there. the headlights will not come on. when **you** decide you want them on, (what a concept, drivers deciding for themselves), like when it's dark outside, turn the stalk to the headlight position or the auto position.
Okay, we may have been taking about two different features with the "twilight" name.
Twilight Sentinel is still on the car. That's where the headlights come on automatically if it's dark enough and you have the light stalk in "AUTO" mode. Handle it the way that either Another Yellow described, or the way SASprof described.
I thought Landru was talking something related to the Twilight Delay, which you program with the DIC.
My mistake. Twilight Sentinel is still alive and causing problems for those who don't want GM to decide when their headlights come on.

Must be past my bedtime.
You had me really (really) scratching my head, there.
But I thought with the new C6 anything's possible, so I might've missed something.
Sorry Jim but it's gonna cost ya 15 yards & a loss of down.
Just can't be allowed to get away with terrorizing (& confusing) old timers like that.
I hated the auto function in my C5 since it involved mechanical movements and God knows they need to be limited in any American car... Here though I don't mind the twilight function..
Mine are off by the time I clear the driveway and get into the road...

On my '05 I can rotate the stalk I believe just one click down. This will keep the lights from coming on in my garage. Be advised however that in this position, the DRL's don't come on either nor do the headlights come on automatically but the parking lights will be on. The parking lights will go off when you kill the engine so there's no chance of draining your battery. It will be just like the old days, you'll have to turn on the lights yourself when you need them. In the winter months when it gets dark earlier, I will go back to full automatic operation.
When the switch is in the above mentioned position, you will see an indicator on the dash panel telling you the parking lights are on.

On my 07, one click down is the parking lights. I think the manual says that the parking lights will go out automatically when you turn off the engine without touching the light stem.
Thanks for the replies.
This forum is great and the involvement of its members is what makes it so.

Yeah but now you have to worry about the HID ballast wearing out. I do the start car/twist headlight ring routine every time I start the car in a dark area. I just hope the spring loaded headlight ring doesn't wear out
