I think the OP was talking about the trunk lid on a vert, not the back hatch on a coupe.

I pull down the hook, then slam down with palms of my hands on the edge of the trunk lid.

When I close the hatch on my manual top, I use the black trim to close with my fingers.

Get some 3M paint protection film and use it on the deck and top of rear bumper so you don't scratch it when talking stuff out of the back, works great.

Default Get the edge

I press afainst the outer edge of the trunk lid with the palm of my hand and push down, no prints... For the vertte hood, I carry a bkack towel behind the passenger seat since top is not power but at least I won't have it sticking in the air or damaging paint or the window.

I wear white gloves at all times and keep a small bottle of spray cleaner and soft cloth in my pocket. In addition, all my clothes are dry cleaned and vacuumed prior to any drive in my Corvette.

Now we're getting obsessive.....but I do keep a microfiber cloth behind the driver's seat that I use when closing the hood or trunk deck....obsessive as all the rest of you!

What's worse....I'm having 2nd thoughts about Carlisle this weekend because IT MIGHT RAIN!

I'm with Dave. I've got a microfiber towel in the driver side door cubby for closing the trunk and the tonneau when raising and lowering the top (manual top here).

Finger prints???? You don't give your vette a reach around every now and then? The MJ glove is a good idea won't leave any evidence..

LoL....

That sounds like a good idea, I'll have to try it. No prints on the glass you say?

I'm getting tired of the fingerprints on the hatch, but it seems excessive to detail it every time you close the lid. Also closing it by the edge seems slightly dangerous - couldn't you get your fingers caught in the lid closing it that way?

This seems like something the aftermarket vendors need to put out a product for. Maybe I should have saved my GM badge and put it on the hatch.
