two gabbing women in a large suv suddenly changed lanes and nearly jammed me into a big rig......i laid on the horn but it was so weak, what with the big rig noise and all, that it took them forever to hear it.....despite me being a mere 2 feet away from them
what is it that determines the volume of a horn? is it possible to make it louder or do i have to buy a different one?
also.....if the latter, are there any electrical land mines to be aware of in swapping it out, or is it idiot proof?

thanx..........
The only weapon thats useful against an SUV is the Israeli Defense Force!!!
Not sure about the C6, but a friend's relatively new Suburban had to have the horn replaced, and it was a major job. Seems that a lot of stuff such as the alarm, door locks, and other things that I wouldn't think of are wired through the horn circuit.
The horn is required to meet some federal standard (so many decibels). My experience has been that when a horn is weak (and you'll know), it's usually the result of increased (electrical) resistance in the horn.
There is an adjustment screw you can turn. The less resistance, the louder it gets. If the adjustment doesn't work, replace the horn.
That's the one thing I don't like about antilock brakes - locking them up and sliding toward someone in a cloud of smoke often got their attention better than a horn!

that's what i was afraid of......electrical intricacies beyond my feeble ability to tinker.....
Horns do not prevent accidents. Defensive driving, evasive maneuvers, awareness and skill prevents accidents.
I have noticed numerous people on the road that can not drive. Sounding a horn does not correct the fact that we grant driver's license to people that CAN NOT drive.
