Does a car ordered for an individual who is going to pick it up at the NCM count against the monthly allocation that a given dealership has? I am going to order a black with ebony 07 3LT coupe with Z51, paddle A6, chrome wheels, transparent top, and NCM in October. I am +/- on the NAV.
Also, one of the local dealers I spoke with said that they find out their allocations for a given month about 3 weeks or so before the given month so if you want to order in mid October, should I place my deposit in late Sept?
So far it seems that the local guys here are ranging from 3k off MSRP to 3 K over invoice (which is basically the same thing). Any opinions on whether or not this is a reasonable deal and what is a reasonable profit for a Chevy dealership to make - given that they get 1600 on a 55,000 car if they have the 3% holdback even if they sold it at invoice. One of the dealerships I spoke with acted like that was a piddly amount and would not come off of MSRP because "they would find someone who would pay MSRP so why should they not make the maximum profit?'
Also, does the dealership from where you order a Vette get the holdback on a car that is picked up at the NCM - and are there any incentives from the factory that dealers get if the car is on their lot but not if the car comes from the factory - the dealership that wouldn't bulge from MSRP inferred that was the case...
any car sold through that dealership will count as against allocations. Allocations manage production numbers, not per dealership deliveries.
And yes, the dealership will still get the holdback. You think kerbeck and other mostly internet sales dealers would encourage R8C and courtesy deliveries if it cost them $1500 per car to do so?
And if you have the money, there is at least one place (caravaggio IIRC) that will do a hardtop vert conversion with your coupe.
Thanks for the input! And yes, there is going to be some GREAT football - one week away and I cannot wait - hopefully a national championship (Notre Dame) and a Heisman this year (QB Brady Quinn) - and a new C6 (for me) - its gonna be a VERY GOOD FALL!
Yeah, given the fact that ND doesn't have the gumption to join a conference and they play a whoppin' 3 ranked team cupcake scedule they shouldn't have an excuse for loosing any of their games.

Yeah, you'd think so, except they always have to play that team, uh, uh, USC. Fight on, SC!!!

Congrats on your new purchase .
National Championship ? Check the schedule for Sept 30th . Go Boilers!
If you want to do Museum Delivery in October, you better order now! I'm not sure how long it's taking these days, but you should order at least 2 months ahead of time.
Actually I am shooting to do it in mid December when I'll have some time off to go out there and get the car - so I figure I need to order it in mid october - but now I wonder if I need to put down the deposit actually near the end of Sept?
You should err on the side of ordering early rather than just in time. Don't shoot for a TPW two weeks before delivery, try for four weeks before. The NCM can hold a car a few weeks if it's built before you're ready to pick it up, but if it's built later than expected, then your delivery date will have to get pushed back as well.
Go ahead and call Lorie or Gary at the NCM and ask them how long they can hold a car to better gage just how early you should order your Vette. Especially if your shooting for a particular date to take delivery.

Thanks for the advice - that is a great idea and I will give them a call this week!
I'm looking for tickets to the USC vs Nebraska game.
And to go back to the topic of the thread, all orders count for their allocation. I'd suggest finding a forum dealer to give you a good deal. Boardwalk was offering really good pricing out here in California.
