I recently picked up an all black 2005 C6 sedan. it is in mint condition with 8000 miles. no delamination YET...
my only complaint is that the seats are made of what looks like cheap black vinyl. can't believe that even the baseline C6 wouldn't have leather seats.
what are my alternatives for upgrading: covers, new upolstery?
how much will it set me back?
is it DIY or do i have to find a shop?

by far the best choice. Extra padding makes it even better, two trips of 2000+ miles each and no complaints.
Go for the Down South Vettes seats. Not only are they a great fit, have much more padding and better leather but Gerardo is cool guy. They really care about making them look good.
Not the best picture (my fault) but here are mine installed this week.
The leather quality on the C6 is definitely a let down. My C4 has much higher grade leather.
You mean it IS real leather? I could have sworn the leatherettes on BMW/Audi felt closer to real leather than this. Regardless, the only leather I feel is on the steering wheel, so it matters little to me. I sort of like the cheap leather feel of the seats, just wish it was a bit more soft/pliable enough so it won't creak every time I operate the clutch pedal and the seat leather scrunches down into the plastic base cover to make a cheap leather sound.
sorry..... i really do like my COUPE . just want to know what's availible to upgrade the seats (these must have been the cheapest option availible to the original owner).
aslo i'd like to know of any do DIY options.

Does your 2005 C-6 has side airbags? I'm thinking maybe you bought the 1SX package which only has power seat for drivers seat and not passenger seat. Very base car with no side airbags.
