If you've used the GMWINBACK ($77/yr) code for a previous one year renewal, you can't use it again.
The ZWINBACK code is for $6.99/month for 3 months. I was able to use this code for 3 months. This knocked my current invoice from $38.01 to $20.97. I will have to renew in 3 months or so. I will probably take advantage of the $9.99/month for a 3 year renewal.
I recently used the zwinback code to renew XM for my Suburban, worked great! The XM in the Z is still in the free trial so they recommended not signing that second radio up till that period expired. They did add a couple bucks to the invoice for 'billing' vs. CC payment, but otherwise it was all good - $77 annually.
I suspect faced with the prospect of loosing several hundred new Corvette owner's in the coming months due to memberships coming due and now that SIRIUS has a plug and play adapter, folks that previously used the ZWINBACK promotional code may be offered something else again.
At least that's how I plan on approaching it. Funny once a vendor/manufacture starts offering discounts it's hard to pull back. Folks get used to paying a certain price for a product/service and when it goes back to it's normal pricing.
Folks;
C6 delivered 02/05. Using the Zwinback code, got the $77 deal. Then, last June, called to renew, & guess what-got the same $77 price! Be persistent, & ALWAYS call on a weekend.
Just my 0.02 cents.

Is anyone happy paying "normal" pricing when normal seems like an initial setup fee.
I see it as a company that has millions of initial investment for R&D as well as satellite equip would charge more initially and then taper off. The additional cost to a company for me signing on for two or three more years is almost nothing. The cost for me switching to Sirius is huge. My measly $77 may not mean much to a company but sending my same cash to their competitor will hurt. XM nor Sirius can afford to think that a current customer is a lifetime customer.
Point being, I don't think normal pricing is normal. If at renewal time I call the phone agents at XM and get no love, I plan on voting with my feet. Just one man's humble opinion. This is the beauty of a free market system.
Has anyone actually let their subscription lapse and then get contacted by XM to renew at a discount?
My subscription was up in May (bought in Feb '05, renewed an extra year for $60) and they sent me a letter that said they'd automatically renew me for 3 months at a time. I ignored it cause I knew the CC I used to cough up my $60 was expired and they wouldn't be able to bill me. I wasn't planning on continuing anyway. They didn't finally shut off the service until July and then I get a collections letter saying I owe them 26 bucks. I called and paid it off but made sure that it didn't renew any subscriptions.
Now I'm curious if they'll do anything to try and get me back as a customer. I'd do it again for $60/yr or even $77/yr. But I don't spend enough time in the car listening to it for it to be worth any more than that.
I guess I could end up answering my own question if I hear from them.
My year extension via ZWINBACK ran out on Aug 19. Prior to that I tried to renew 3 times for a better deal, with no luck--they would not budge on price. Last week I received a bill for a 3-month period. I called them, said I did not extend the subscription, and would not pay them. When I told them I wanted to cancel, they transferred me to a different rep. He tried to get me to renew, and I said I would pay no more than $99 a year. He said the best he could do was $119, and I said no. He then tried to offer me a free 3-month renewal, which I refused. We then agreed that the service would be cancelled on 19 Sep. It will be interesting to see what, if any, follow-up offers I get.
I like XM and would pay the $119 in a daily driver. I typically spend less than 2 hours a week in my C6, and depending on the time of day I listen to AM talk radio, so it's not worth the cost for me to renew. I made this quite clear to the XM rep.
My year at $77 expired recently. I was all ready to try Sirius with the converter. Called XM to cancel and they offered to renew at $77 again for the year. No code needed.Would probably rather have Sirius, but not sure it is worth the extra cost. Between the converter and programming, Sirius would cost about $250 for the first year vs the $77.00 for XM.
I happened to call this morning to renew as my free 90-day period is up next week. They quoted me the $152 for a year, and I proceeded to tell them that I had received a mailing with a promotional deal of $77 for one year. The guy never asked for a code, and readily gave me the $77 price. I told him to mail me the invoice - no problem.
My three month free trial expired at the end of July. I just got an e-mail last week offering 4.99 per month for three months and no re-connect fee. I may try to get the "Three Month Plan" extended every 3 months.
I got a letter from XM Radio about 2-3 weeks ago reminding me that my 3-month free trial period was about to end (9/14/06) and their best offer was $12.95/month.
Today, I got a phone call reminding me it was about to expire and giving me the opportunity to talk to someone now about renewing. When I did, after they told me about the different packages, I asked for the one-year package for $77. They asked me if I had a code for that and I gave them the GMWINBACK code.
They first asked me for a credit card to renew at that rate, but I told them I'd rather have them send me a bill and I'd pay by check. They agreed to do that.
When I had renewed for one year with the 05 silver vette, I had to call them 3 times to get the $60 rate, but I guess I just got lucky this time, since they called me.
