Maybe I'm wrong
I concluded that the new 2004R must be a lemon. I started the car, put her in reverse, and tried to see if the driveshaft was turning. But, it's high up in a tunnel, and I couldn't see it. I do know the sideshafts that are horizontal, and just back of the rear wheels do not turn when the trans is in gear. So what do you smarter vette owners think? Is the differential thrashed; and not the fault of the trans? If I have to put in a new rear end (differential)..should I change from the original 3.36 to a 3.07, 3.08 or even a 3.55. Should I insist on GM performance differential, or go aftermarket..there are many differential builders out there getting rich. I almost exclusively drive my C3 on the freeway.
It's Labor Day..my wife took off with her sister, and I'm here at the computer, and my dog(my dog knows more about what's going on than I do).
BTW: I was freaking out so badly I test drove a 2001 Z06 yesterday at a Honda dealer of all places..could get it for about $27,500. Car is way damn too powerful for me.
Plus, my wife can't drive a manual. In second gear, you cannot floor the gas pedal...the rear will fishtail all over the highway.
