I just orderd a new set of iForged classics, which i am going to be putting the stock goodyears that i have on that car now (Only 5k miles on them). I would like to put a set of winter performance tires for better grip in the winter on the stock rims. What tires are reccomended for this. I still want perrformacne but better grip then the all out summer performance.
Thanks

Winter performance tires are an oxymoron! Typically, a performance tire should not be used in the snow or on ice and the "performance" of such tire degrades below 32 degree. i would lean more towards the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I have 19" performance tires on my Audi A8 but I swap them for Blizzaks in the winter. I guess I never considered Blizzaks a performance tire.
I used Blizzaks in two Chicago winters, and had absolutely zero problems. I had to go narrower in cross-section (not a bad thing in a winter tire) because of availablity at the time.
Tire Rack now shows Pirelli has come out with a winter tire in exact sizes for C6. If I had to do it now, I would seriously consider the Pirellis.
My best advice is go for it, and enjoy your C6 24/7/365.

I have been happy with the Goodyear All-Season supercar run-flats that come in the exact size you need for your original rims (who wants to buy new rims just to run in the cold winter months, anyway?), and you'll have run flats so that you won't get stuck with a pump and fix-a-flat when it's cold, nasty, and wet outside. The traction and hookup are noticeably better than the Z51 summer tires, and their treadlife is longer, too. You do need to get an extra set of tire pressure sensors; Fred Beans had a great deal when I did it. Vettes can be cold-weather cars, too. Good luck!
I have had the 240 SottoZero Pierelli Winter tires on order at the tire rack since the beginning of Oct. The date for availabilty of the rears (285/35VR19) kept getting pushed back and pushed back. Today it was pushed to 11/18/06.
I Spoke to Doug over at Tire Rack today and he said that they (Pirelli) may not make this season as they are having issues with the manufacture of our specific size (rear tire).
Since Pirelli are the only MFG to make the C6 stock rear size in a winter tire, this was becoming a bit of an issue. I decided to look at tires that were close in size to substitute for the stock size in the rear.
Blizzak LM-25's come in a 265/35VR19 and Pirelli 240's come in a 255/40VR19. Since going with a narrower tire in the snow is never a bad idea, this seemed like a good course of action. It's important - however - to insure that the stand height of the tire is as close as possible to the stock tires to keep speedo and odo accuracy.
In the end - I changed my order to the 255/40VR19 Pirell's in the rear intead. This tire has 27" stand height (as opposed to our Supercar F1 standheight of 26.8"). It has a 10.4" section width.
They were in stock, so I should see them this week. Like above - I have a second set of wheels, TPS Sensors, TPS tool - and now Pirelli 240 SottoZero's
Yes, but you want to go slightly narrower, higher profile for winter. Give Tire Rack a call and they will lead you through it. Blizzaks have a great rep.
