So I am driving by the a school today at 20 mph, right when school let out..
Two LEO's usally sit on each end of the strip to keep the kids in check..I go by, and LEO one pulls out, hits the lights and pulls me over. WTF I think.. LEO two pulls up behind him..Heck, I dont know what to think at this point..... LEO one comes up to the window while LEO two 'covers him'.."do you know why I stopped you' he says... I say, I dont have a friggin clue. He looks around, sighs, and said..'no front plate'... I say it didnt come with one..
At that point, they both chuckle, say nice car and tell me that I need a plate and that there are QD brackets so I dont have to drill out my front end...
They go on to say that LEO one has a 69 Chevell and the other has a 64 Nova.. So I get out, pop the hood and we BS for a while. They just said that I would be better off to get the removable plate for around town and pull it off when at a ride in or show as other LEO's would write me up.... They said if they gotta have em on there cars, I do too..! They think it is a stupid law and mentioned that apparently the State of Washington would save 1.4 million a year if front plates were outlawed...and be able to hire more LEO's with the savings.
Great guys and new friends, but they had me going for a sec..!
you mean you have to get a front plate now??? Yuk! I just will not do it. Was cited twice with my C5 but kept removing it. Hey BTW, what's a LEO?
I dont HAVE to do anything.. they were just clueing me in on saving the $194 ticket. Even though they are enthusiists, I think they would have to write me up if I dont do it.. But a QD plate would work..
Got to love Washington. In my neck of the woods they love pulling folks over for not having a front license plate. I hated putting mine on my c4 & c6 but did not want to contuinally be pulled over. Never a ticket but I was pressing my luck.

I was told the same thing .. under no uncertain terms... by a LEO AND the head of the Motor Vehicle registration department in the People's Republic of the State of Maryland.
What happens if you register your car in a another state that doesn't
require front plates? Do you have to belong to that state?
Im from Ontario Canada so I don't know too much of state too state laws! We need a front plate here...I don't have one yet!!!!!

Theoretically, you need to be a resident of that state.. e.g., have an address there and prove that you spend some time there... Some states are more strict than others on that.
Also, my sister lives in Enumclaw, and my mother down the road in Sumner, I have visted before. It's beautiful there.
Dont you guys in Oklahoma have some weird property tax on cars? Thats one thing about Illinois that I actually like - just $90 a year per car for plates.

We pay an excise tax on the car when first bought of 3.25% of the purchase price. Plates are then $95 for the first seven years, then I think they drop to $65-70 (never kept one long enough to find out).
P.S. I went to High School in Rantoul back in the mid Seventies, I liked Illinois when I lived there. Although in high school taxes weren't really a concern.

This suburb I live in is a small city within the greater Bay Area. So far I feel like they have checked me out a few times, but haven't pulled me over for not having the front plate. Even though the Bay Area is heavily populated, I have not seen many C6's, and bright VY's in my town. I feel like a target sometimes, because I know some of these guys have seen me driving around many times.
Hey San Ramon PD...if you are reading this...I behave myself around here,so please be kind about my front plate.I respect our local traffic laws!
