Default 3M Clear Bra - DIY Installation?

I've seen a number of threads on how good the 3M clear bra is. In doing some research, there are a number of web sites that sell the pre-cut bra and an installation kit.

Has anyone used this and installed themselves? If so, is it difficult or something anyone can handle?

The price for the pre-cut piece is about $200 and another $400 for installation. Not that this is a tremendous amount of money to spend, more if this is something I can do, I prefer doing it than leaving my car for an install.

Thanks in advance...

I have had the clear bra installed on many different cars including my C6. I would strongly advise leaving this job to an experienced installer.

You will just end up having expensive sandwich wrap.Even my experienced installer had to do it twice.

I absolutely . If, however, you decide to to the DIY route, get some stuff and practice for a while before you do it on your car. The trick is not getting it on, the trick is to make it look right.

Good advice. Sounds like a pro should do this.

Not only leave it to the pro, but spend some time researching the best installer in your area. Pay up for one who's been recommended if necessary. The quality of the install job is absolutely vital if you want it to look good.

+1 on everyone's advice.

Clear bra kit + DIY = burning money...not to mention HOURS of frustration & increased blood pressure.

Find the best installer in your area, pay him, go home happy.

Ditto-

It could get costly in material and whenyou go to trim the edges and cut into the paint

This is a pro job only.

I work at a dealer and they still have days when it is hard to get it done correctly.

With all due respect, you will never install it yourself. It's a b**ch to install even for an experienced installer. Have it professionally installed or you will be sorry.

My 3M installer has done dozens of Lotus Elises, Ferraris and Lambos. He had a b1tch of a time with my C6. In fact, he had to do it twice, since both him and I are ****, for a total of ~14 hours labor for the front. There is NO WAY I'd ever DIY on a Clear-Bra on a complicated multi-curve surface, such as the front of the C6 - it is way too easy to mess it up.

As others have said - the key is an experienced installer.

Great advice from all. I am glad I asked before trying.

If I go w/ a clear mask, I will have it professionally installed.

Thanks again

It took an experienced installer 6 hours to do my vette and he does a car a day. I wouldn't even attempt it!

I'm lined up for the clear bra installer to come to my house next week to do my Vette. The owner of the company said they only send the best installer out for Vettes, the implication was most Vette guys have OCD. His estimate was 2 hours to do the job. This is Ventureshield not 3M.

How much is the average good install?

What do you guys get covered? Bumper, fenders, partial hood, and mirrors?

I was quoted $595 for the basic package - front bumper, hood and mirrors.

Done at my house on a Saturday morning.
Who is doing it for you and where are they located? I need to get the same thing done to my new MR vert.
