DBS Prevented / DBS Cause???
While in Indiana, I may have almost had a DBS incident. When I came back to Dad's house, I was working with the navigation, ploting the route to Ft. Wayne, while in the Asscessory Mode. After finishing, I was talking to Dad under the portico and noticed that the Map Reading Light was not turning off, even after exiting my car two minutes earlier. Upon checking, the Map Light had not been turned-on manually and were indeed "off." The speedo and tack were still illuminated after sitting in the car for two minutes (map light still on). I started the engine and turned it off. After waiting two minutes dash and map light were still illuminated. Light dimmer switch had no effect. At last, I took a ride around the parkway and parked in front of the garage. After stopping the engine, in the regular time interval, the map reading light and the dash lights went out. This has not happened before or since.
I think that I may have prevented a DBS incident. What do you guys and gals think? If I had, at first, just parked the car and went in the house for the night.... I may well have had a dead battery, the next morning. If I had not been standing there looking at the Vette's windshield, I would not have noticed the map light was not turning off.
When DBS has occurred to you, were you doing something in the Accessory Mode? Could DBS be caused in this way? Is this the way C6Vette owners have experienced DBS? Not noticing that the map light and dash lights remained on long after exiting their C6. Perhaps this is the cause of DBS.
If you notice your map light staying on, take a quick lap around the block and see if this solves the problem.
