I just noticed my taillights do not appear to be the same brightness unless you look at them from different angles, which leads me to believe the body shop must have put them back in the wrong way so that now they're pointing in slightly different directions. Can I fix this by just getting a Torx T15 screwdriver and adjusting them myself? Am I losing my mind, my wife says this looks normal but it doesn't seem right to me...
Sorry if this is a dupe, I seem to remember seeing a thread about this before but I can't find it now, I tried searching for tail lights and got nada...
look at the bottom of each lens... the last letter should match the correct side... (L) (R)
looks like its mixed up
Yeah I just noticed that today, the order of the tail lights from left to right is R - L - R - L, the body shop guys who put them back on probably assumed they were all the same and it didn't matter which light went in where.
So should it be L - L - R - R or L- R - L - R? Looks like there are some instructions in the owners manual on how to remove the bulbs, hopefully I don't have to get into the electrical wiring and all that (I'm a computer guy not a gearhead).
OK with some help from my owners manual on the taillamp replacment procedure and my trusty T15 screwdriver (which I didn't even know I had before today) everything is back to normal now.
Can I just say this is a perfect example of why CF is such a great place - you can post a question and get a near-instantaneous answer. You guys just saved me a trip to the dealer. Speaking of which, when I go there next week I will try to gently educate them on what they did wrong so this doesn't happen again...
OK so I stopped by the dealer auto body today and while I was there I mentioned the glitch with the tail lights. The shop manager said it was probably the paint shop guys who removed and reinstalled them so I guess that explains it. He also said they will "minus me for it", whatever that means.
I still can't believe I drove around with it like that for a week without noticing, it was just on a hunch that I hit the "lock" button on the FOB to make sure the tail lights were still functional. Maybe I should have left it that way to achieve the "Florida look", i.e. busted taillights, turn signals never used or left perpetually blinking, etc.
