Wipers Scratching Windshield
I use glass rubber compound/polish (about 2 hours of hand rubbing) and the scratch remained but unless in the right light, at the right angle, and someone points it out, it is all but unnoticable. I will always see it though, because I no it's there.
Well, quess what? This weekend I was cleaning the drivers side windshield and there was another arc scratch almost indentical to the one a year earlier on the passager's side. I compound the glass for about an hour and I still have about another hour of compounding before this new scratch is as unnoticable as the first.
This is my everyday car, and I only live a mile and half from work. I avoid driving in the rain as much as possible. I still am able to show the car in Concours Class (NCCC) and pickup first place in C/P G. This is just to let you know that I maintain above average care for my Vette.
Am I just plan unlucky or have others had similar problems with windshield wiper scratches?
Grit can stick below any wiper blade and damage the windshield.
Your only hope for preventing this is to clean your blades frequently. I also wipe mine every month or so with a very small amount of Vinyl/Rubber Conditioner on a piece of microfiber towel. (I use Meguiar's #40.)
Removing scratches on glass by hand is a tough if not impossible. You need high speed buffing from either an electric or air powered rotary buffer.

After all the care I take, it seems mighty freaky to me.

I doubt that this has anything to do with your Vette. It is just something that happens when you don't clean your wiper blades often enough.
