Noticed the HUD speedometer registers in reverse. With 41,500 miles on Vette maybe if get real good at going in reverse on freeway will soon be in warranty range

Just jack it up in the garage and run it in reverse (ala Ferris Bueller).
I have heard of shops that take a drill bit and stick it in the old manual gear odometer and reverse it. Of course this is illegal, and, I am not in favor or endorsing this in any way. BTW this carries a $10K fine.
Is the driving in reverse really how it works on the digital odometer or is this just a big joke?
Used to work. My buddy and I rented a car back when I was in college. It was on his dime so he decided to jack up the rear end and run a few miles off to save some $$$. Trouble is after -100 miles or so the tranny started making funny noises. He wound up taking the car back the next day with a blown tranny and fewer miles than it had on it when we rented it. He had a lot of explaining to do. He never said but I think the rental place charged him for the tranny (or more likely charged his dad), expensive weekend! The rental place stopped renting to college kids shortly after that...
Years ago I heard stories about people taking out the fuse for the cluster. That would stop it from working. Now, the mileage still goes up when you drive your Corvette in reverse.
