Default "Auto Headlights" option question

Can the auto headlights feature be turned off permanently? The way I read it in the manual and I also have tried it, it resets itself to auto once the ignition is turned off then restarted.

NO, I have tried everthing. Thats just one of the may defaults GM lawyers have stuck us with. Time to let the engineers design the cars, not the f**ken lawyers.

Nope. If you don't want auto headlights you'll have to twist the headlight ring to the off position every single time you start the car. This will kill the DRLs too. I cannot stand the low beams turning on every single time I start the car in the garage (don't want the ballast to wear out) so it's become second nature to me to just twist the ring to the off position right after I press the start button. Watch, the ring is gonna break at 3 years and 1 day

Another thing I've noticed is that if you manually turn the low beams on, the dash and radio lights won't light up if it's not dark outside. So much for manual control too.

No kidding... I could turn off that feature in my '04 C5 though.

That's exactly why I wanted to turn it off.

Two reasons to turn off. The other is the DRLs are not designed, (but used) to run all the time. They will burn out much faster if they are left on and not used as the turn lights that they are.
I have it down pat to turn the ring a nano second after hitting the start button EVERY time I start cat except at night hours.
Thank GMS lawyers for this

Or start with the lights on in parking only. That way you don't have to try and beat the ballast from igniting...Then turn them to auto for off, and again to auto to put DRLs on, should you want to.

I wonder why they took out the very capable SCV on the radio and replaced it with something that does not work.

Answer to both questions, because they can. They have never heard of 'If its not broke do not fix it"

I do the same thing and leave the DRL's off when driving (for the same reason listed above). I also don't like the look of the amber DRL's so it's a plus to have them off when driving.
