Has anyone had any experience with the non powdercoat, do it yourself caliper paint? I know there are products out there by G2 and Duplicolor. Looking for feedback.
i have used spary on vht paint for autozone on my previous car you need to mask it and spray it on a bit messy but durable as it is an epoxy system and good to 1500 degrees. On the vette I used the duplicolor system you paint it on it is a kit with masking tape brake fluid cleaner and paint and comes in various colors. The paint brush they supply sucks. I used a paint brush from lowes and it came out great the finish is not as nice as the powder coat but who cares it is a brake not the car. The system costs about 30 bucks compared to 100 for powder coating plus the time or expense of having someone else pull your brakes off and reinstall them. I would go with the duplicolor it is an expoxy and therefore more heat tolerent and durable. paint over the raised letters in the front and get a straight razor when done and shave the paint off I don't have apicture but if you go to http://81x.com/bugman/c6 and check out calipers it has a diy

I painted the calipers on my old '02 with Rustoleum Sunset Red.
A quart cost about $8. If you can find it in a pint can that's more than enough.
Paint it on with a brush and it will look great.
Be sure the calipers are clean first. If not, spray with a brake cleaner and wipe clean.
No need for powdercoating.

Go to search and put in "painting brake calipers" and you will find the thread that I started on 9-23-06.
I used the Duplicolor kit. It worked great. The key to it (if you use it) is to get a few GOOD brushes used for painting ceramics from an art or hobby store. Get a 3/4 or 1" and a small flat 1/4" to go in between the letters. When you're done, scrape any paint off the letter (or use some chapstick on them so paint does not stick).
I was able to do all four with 3 coats in about 2 hours. Id post some pics buty my son is away with my camera.
