Default Bra

I am considering getting a BRA for my 2006 Coupe. Does anyone have a reccommendation for one that protects without harming the paint and is easy to install?

I have one of these in LMB. Color match is very close and quality is excellent. There are other less expensive ones out there...this is the only one I have any history with.

For the price (usually under $100) you can't go wrong with a GM bra. I have used one on my '06 practically daily since the car was new. Fits like a glove. The only thing you have to careful with is inserting the tabs in by the headlight gaskets. I use an old credit card as a guide and have never had a problem. I keep the card in the fuse box located in the engine compartment for easy access.

Yep......Lots of Rejex, Zaino or any good wax! Seriously, I've tried a number of bras, masks or whatever else ya want to call them over the years and really for the amount of time invested in installing them, cleaning them and being concerned about what they may be doing to my paint, etc.......I don't think they offer enough positives to offset the negatives. Keeping the nose slick will take care of the bugs (I use distilled water in a spray bottle and a little elbow grease after a run) and if you are going to drive the car, yes you will get some nicks that would not have occured with the bra on, but I've never had a buyer walk away due to a stone chip. Just MHO.....good luck with your decision.

I've seen pics of the GM bra.... there are "S" hooks that attach on the bottom that are exposed and can do damage to your paint.
This is a very poor GM design. I have a GM bra on my '04 Z06 and I really like it.
It has a totally different install.
I have seen the Colgan bra, and they look pretty nice.
For about $140 you can get the black one.

And the answer is:

Insist on the 3M Clear Bra - 6 months and 8,000 miles now - still "showroom" condition - never remove/reinstall - just enjoy "more protection" without ANY hassles or paint rub marks - it is the only way to go.

Do your research first (vendor/product/installer/experience).

I use the black Colgan bra for road trips. Just did over 1000 miles this week. It was covered in bugs.

I've had several Speed lingerie bras... but the color match on the Le Mans Blue is poor. The rest have matched very well.

I had a GM bra on my C5.. It did fine but you have to be very careful not to let dirt get under it. In other words, wash the car before you put it on. If your Vette is a darker color, it'll really pick up scratches that you'll see. I'm getting a clear bra put on my new C6 this weekend.

The 3M is the only way to go in my opinion. No rock chips or sand blasting behind the wheels.

I also agree with 3M. No problem or worries. Had it on my c6, 3400 miles and 10 months so far it is perfect. The 3M also protects your side and rear wheel wells.

OK, Chicken Little, those "S" hooks you refer to are about 1/2 inch long and have a smooth surface. They hook into loops that are attached to another section of the bra, not to the vehicle itself. I have not seen any damage to my car that was caused by these hooks.

Here are pictures of Colgan bras on my cars. Fit and finish great. No paint problems I use them for trips.
