I have the 2006 Pontiac Solstice that is being plaqued with
1: leaking vent tube. (Might be fixed now?)
2: Leaking fluid out of the pinion seal
3: Now after the 2nd assembly replace & looking under the car after each long run for leaks, I placed my hand underneath to feel for any wet oil and could not believe how HOT it was!!
How hot do the Vetts (03-06's) get??
Is that normal for them to get that hot?
I am assuming that underneath the Vetts everything is pretty well tucked away for drag purposes etc.
The Solstice is the same way.
Would appreciate some replies with this because I am getting tired of this car going back and forth to the shop getting rear ends replaced.
But ready to have GM buy this car back or paint it yellow & get a custom plate that says: GM lemon
I'm sorry, I know I can go to the Solstice forum & I have!.
But, Since you have a similar technology & longer & proven, I wanted some feedback from "You Vett" people out there on this issue I have with my "Baby" Vett (no offense of coarse)
Please share anything that could relate.
My LSD rear diff carrier replacement and problems are making me very very unhappy with GM & I have always owned GM products.
1. There is a bulletin (PIP3906) for the vent leak. Was that performed? Was the whole rear diff assembly replaced yet? From your description it sounds like it. The new diff has a new internal baffle.
2. The pinion seal is not a big deal. There is a bulletin if that seal has already been replaced and is still leaking (PIP3671D)
3. The diff assembly will get hot depending on the ambient and driving conditions.
Not sure what you are feeling, but if you are talking engine the C6 (and C5) will run close to 220-230 degree oil temp when fully warmed up. Almost all modern engines will run that hot. If you are talking tranny/diff they are not much less than that fully warmed up. If you touch any part under the car you better do it quickly
