Hit A Deer
....I had planned to go into work late today, because I had to get to the DMV to pay my taxes and get my vette tags (bought out of state from Les Stanford). For some stupid reason I decided I would go in like normal and just leave early and pick them up this afternoon.
I'm probably lucky because I had just passed a cop so I was already slowing down when the "not so little #$%er" jumped out in front of me
. If I was in my truck I may not have had much damage, but it got the hood and bumper of my wifes Honda pretty good. (I guess she'll think twice about switching me cars just because hers needed to be filled up with gas).Tis the season, so if your out with your vette (or any vehicle) in deer country be careful, and if you like hunting, please come to Ohio and help thin the herd. I've seen lots already this year and I'll be out thinning more this weekend.
Seriously, I'm amazed that people don't realize how "not nice and sweet" deer are. The herds don't get culled enough so disease is rampant, they are incredibly destructive and they are more agressive than people believe.
I'm glad you are ok.
Is there such a society?
It happened at 5:45am and happened so fast I was thinking more about finding my insurance card for the cop than asking him for the meat, but my wife asked me the same question about keeping the deer (we both enjoy some tasty venison). Come to think of it that might have been the first question she asked me before "are you alright" (just kidding she asked about the car first then the deer).
The cop said he would take care of the deer, but when I drove by later that afternoon 5 buzzards were taken care of business. I think they call that the "circle of life".
but imho for a few dollars it might make a difference.
also when you see one deer, be on the lookout for the rest
of them.
