Noticed the pedal half way and then I decided to pull the pedal clutch up with the side of my shoe. That's it. After that, nothing. ALL NORMAL. (some smell).. Clutch returned to full play and I continued my drive. No further issues.

Did I damage anything? BTW I don't think this means I should change the clutch fluid, does it?

Hi Bill. You glazed the clutch by not making a fast pedal release. The LS7 clutch hates slip if the rpm at release is about 2000 or so. It has a heavy flywheel and a lot of torque, even at low rpm. So the momentum of the flywheel overwhelms the friction surfaces if the clutch pedal is not released quickly.

No harm done once the friction surfaces cooled. Depending on the severity of the glaze, that cool down can be seconds to an hour before the clutch is ready for another aggessive launch.
