Anyone having any of these problems

1) Passanger side door aligned horribly (can notice it from the inside as well as the outside)
2) horrible break squeal during light braking
3) Clunking noise during clutching or low speeds while turning

Greetings and welcome to the forum.

We need a little more detail to help you out better.

What year is your car?
How is it equipped? As an example, some of the early Z51 owners complained of brake squeal

For the passenger door, misaligned how? Top to bottom?, side to side or in to out? There are issues with the '05's and GM put a rubber stop in place on later models.

It would also help if you would fill out just a little of your profile. What's your name? Some of us prefer to be a bit familiar when we address a fellow owner in need. Where do you live even city or region would be better than nothing. This way we can point you to a good service center in your area that can either better diagnose or help to fix your problem. Let us know.

Paul

1)I notice my pass.door gap inside is larger than the driver door gap.
2)Take the car up to speed and hit the brakes HARD several times. That should take care of the squeal. If not, swap pads for hawk or something.Known issue on Z51 VETTE'S and some non-z51,in 05 AND 06.
3)Could be your rear end needs fluid changing,or clutch pack replacement, there is a TSB on it.
4)No idea on that one, mine's been fine.
Good luck.ALL WARRANTY ITEMS,BTW.

Hey SH*T like #1 happens!

#2 is common with Z51 brakes. There used to be a GM TSB to replace them, but that has been discontinued. Until mine were fixed using the base pads, I used to mash hard and make more abrupt, but silent stops. A real PITA!

#3 is common, do search for 'chatter'. They replace the differential fluid to help the problem, and then replace the clutch packs in the differential if that doesn't work or keep the noises away.

#4 I've heard of, but not common. I'm assuming the harness under the seat isn't getting stretched and disconnected when the seat moves...

the car is a 2006 C6 MN6 non Z51. I know a lot of people at Carlise complained of break squeal, but mine seems to be getting worse, better yet my dealer told me GM is aware of the problem, but they have no solution as of yet??? As far as the door, Fit and finish on the car just sucks. The clunking noise i have been told is a normal corvette noise, but that also seems to be getting worse. the heated seat is just a pain. i know every car has it's problems, but i can't seem to get mine fixed. Still the best car i've ever owned. Hope this helps
thanks alot Joe, Philadelphia, PA. area

Only problem I have of yours is the pass door alignment. I need to get it in to the dealer for adjustment. Mine appears to be too close on the bottom hinge.. I could probably fix it myself, but dont wanna screw it up... Engine/driveline work I do, body work, no way jose'

Joe,

Getting things fixed right has a lot to do with the dealer's servcie people. I'd suggest you try Bryner Chevrolet in Jenkintown PA. Their top tech (Steve Spencer) only works on Vettes. Most of our club members (CCDV) will only let Steve touch our cars. He's fixed every issue I've had with my car correctly the first time, every time. That includes squealing Z51 brakes.

When you see Steve tell him Mark (Carboman) sent you. If Steve can't fix it, it can't be fixed.

Best regards,
Mark

Sorry to hear about the problems, BUT, you shouldn't join a site just to bitch. As was said above, we need more facts. Was the car bought new or used?

... sounds like the real deal to me...
I only dealt with the brake squeal - dealer replaced the pads under warranty..

well, IMO, to one person it might seem like complaining but perhaps this new owner just needed HELP!!!!! Plus venting is a good thing.

there are Corvette websites ( I stop visiting them as soon as I get a whiff of the stench IMO. ) that allow NO negatives to be spoken about the car. They don't want to hear about problems as their only purpose in life is to be good sycophants. Folks like this are sometimes afforded access that other, more honest people, don't get IMO.

The only price of admission is to ignore all the negatives and blow the positives totally out of proportion.

They even hold appreciation parties for BG employees who produce and allow shoddy workmanship like this to leave the plant.

Personally, I like to hear about problems as it gives me things to be proactive about etc. There is NO excuse IMO for a C6 to leave the factory with a grossly misaligned door. None, not even close because it either means the fasteners were loose and the door moved in transit OR it was just that bad on the line as it received final QA approval.

You know, all the Z06 guys are really impressed with whether Joe or Sally built their engine etc. I'd more like to know what sorry excuse for a final QA inspector allowed this car out the door of the plant!

This kind of thing almost never is seen in a Japanese car. ( yes, I know, it sometimes happens however the Japanese take what is called pride in what they sell-it's a good concept that GM might consider trying out though their workforce might, IMO, have a problem with the concept )

just my opinions all, if yours differ that is fine. we can all get along. I love the C6 but the quality is mediocre at best. We all know this I think unless we choose to delude outselves.

Forget about Chevy ever fixing your brake problem. After a year I couldn't take it anymore and I bought ceramic pads which I had installed. Problem solved. I spend upwards of 4-hours a day in the car and was being driven mad by the horrible embarrassing squeak. Yes, Chevy should have fixed it.

I found those "get up to speed and slam the brakes" or "accelerate while pressing the brakes" fixes to be very short-term. Get ceramics and move on. Unless of course you plan to track to the car.
