Can you please look in your passenger side glove box and check the Service Parts Identification sticker. See if it contains the code ZR6.
I've been told that ZR6 code on the build sheet means the vehicle was a GM show car. Just wondering, as we're checking out the possibilities, if EVERYONE has that code on the Service Parts ID sticker...or if it's another indication that the rumor about my Vette is true!
My 05 DSOM has it. A friend of mine who works at a Chevy dealer ran a "GM Vehicle Inquiry System - Vehicle Build" report and it lists the ZR6 option as "Zone Show Vehicle". It also has the painted spoiler, door handles, license plate frame, and aluminum sill plates. That is the way the car was when it was purchased by the dealer I bought it from. It is an A4 Z51 with every option except both tops - it just has the painted top.
I remember going to the 2004 Houston Auto Show and seeing the 2005 Corvettes for the first time, and one of them was DSOM, so I am assuming they used those around the country in shows.
My car was purchased at a GM auction in Louisiana when it was about 6months old and it had about 200 miles on it.

Hope this helps.
Wow! Three DSOM's on this website with that code. This is definitely worth following up on. Mine doesn't have the license plate frame, but I'm getting one, and does have the other three add-ons. From what I understand, a clear targa wasn't available as an option in 2005. We'll have to check the book on that...
The glass top was an option in 05, but I always figured that Chevrolet thought it looked better with a painted top and decided to show it that way. Considing what is happening with the painted tops I wish they had put the glass one on it! Mine also has the cashmere interior - is yours the same way?

Yes, Cashmere. My hubby wants me to get a glass top for mine, so I'll put it on the Christmas list. I believe my top is a shade off from the rest of the car, and wonder if it is the original. I'm spending lots of time reading up on everything that's available in this forum!
I'm off to tech section to research the crank bolt issue, looks like I may be in the VIN's possibly affected. Ah, well...time to review service records...
I have all of the service records for mine, and while it might have been some sort of a show vehicle, it has been far from trouble free. It has been afflicted with most of the issues you read about here despite the fact it just turned 8,000 miles. The top has never been an issue, but it spends most of the time in the garage. I will eventually get a glass top as well.
My 05 DSOM C6 Z-51 MN6 is also a ZR6 show vehicle. Mine was purchased at auction with 92 miles, and also accented with color keyed door handles, rear spoiler, license plate frame, and brushed aluminun door sill protectors. However, my car has been trouble free for 11K miles except for a tire pressure sensor that went out at 2K and was replaced in an hour. My build date was 3/05, so it was definitely a later model, at least after the crank bolt issue. I was wary as to the show vehicles at first, so my dealer gave me a 5 year, 50K mile GMPP extended warranty on top of the factory warranty. That, plus 6K below sticker, the already added accessories, and a B&B Bullet exhaust installed, it wasn't a difficult decision. It is awesome to have a dealer that knows what a corvette enthusiast wants & needs. Good luck with your ZR6's.
