C6 Notes From The Road: NCM Experience
A very busy and exciting day. Curt Adkins was a great host.
Rick Daniel at Les Stanford is the man to buy from.
Seeing the production process was awesome.
Some Factory highlights:
1. Seeing a European delivery car on the line. It was interesting to see the differences in lighting and headlight washers. Loved the red/amber split color rear turn signals.
2. Watching the assembly line supervisors efficently respond to amber and red codes.
3. Talking to a couple who were following their Z06 car along the production line for future delivery.
4. Watching the laser check on body panel fit.
5. Watching the "dyno" run up at the end of the production line.
6. We met several employees who had a great sense of humor and shook our hands congratulating and thanking us for choosing Corvette.
7. Meeting enthusiasts David Newman (first C6 customer) and his friend Jerry.
Seeing your own car roped off in the museum is a thrill. Driving it for the first time is fantastic (even if I did stall it by selecting 3rd instead of 1st gear!!!)
The museum is great and has room for expansion. In particular I noticed the lack of vintage Corvette road racers. Many are still running in vintage events such as the Monterey Historics including the Grand Sports. It would be a treat to see some in the museum.
