06 vert. I have a 2 inch stress crack on the bottom side of the trunk within 1 inch of the latch. Dealer said they can not fix it. They ordered a new trunk lid and will have to paint it to match my Monterey Red. Has Anyone else heard of this problem.
I've got one along the front edge of the lid at about the center. It isn't very noticable unless you get the light just right and stare at it carefully. It's not worth the hassle to me to have them fix it and deal with color matching. Besides, in 30 years I can say it was a rare factory flaw.
Mine is very noticeable. If I did not have the warranty, I would bet a independent body shop would beable to fix and stop the cracking without replacing lid. Dealer ordered new trunk lid and will have to match paint.Dealer said they had to paint 45 new targa tops so they have been practicing.

I had the exact same issue appear early summer. My dealer (Les Stanford here in Michigan) proposed to try to fix it first. They did an excellent job, perfect finish on the inside, you can hardly tell that it got repaired. And all that without the hassle of having to match the paint.

So why would my dealer not try to repair it first?
