Default DIC Volume Adjustment

This question may have been asked before, but I did a search and couldn't find anything. Is there any way to adjust the DIC volume? I find the beep too loud when pressing any of the DIC or HUD buttons.

There are only two settings, loud and louder, in cars without Nav. In cars with Nav, there is only loud.

Yeah, so I've learned. I found the section on chime adjustment after I posted this thread. Thanks!

Question from above: "This question may have been asked before, but I did a search and couldn't find anything. Is there any way to adjust the DIC volume? I find the beep too loud when pressing any of the DIC or HUD buttons."

I don't get a chime sound when I press any of the HUD buttons on the left side. I only get chime sound on the buttons pressed on the Right side. Does anyone else get silent pressing of the left side?

No way to adjust that I have found.

I assume this is the normal situation?

You're right, it's normal. No chime when pushing the buttons on the left side of the HUD.

Default Thanks for the DIC volumn info. It helped.

A timely post. I thought the tone on the DIC was too loud, too. Thanks to this thread, followed the directions by holding selector button #6. Turns out it was set on "loud". Changed it to "normal". It is better now.

Radio preset button no. 6. 2006 owner's manual, page 3-101.

Note: this info. does not seem to be in the 2007 owner's manual.

Chime Level Adjustment
The radio is used to adjust the vehicle’s chime level.
To change the volume level of the chime, press and hold
pushbutton 6 with the ignition on and the radio power
off. The volume level will change from the normal
level to loud, and LOUD will appear on the radio display.
To change back to the default or normal setting,
press and hold pushbutton 6 again. The volume level
will change from the loud level to normal, and NORMAL
will appear on the radio display. Only one chime will
be heard when changing from the normal to the
loud setting. Each time the chime volume is changed,
three chimes will sound as an example of the new
volume selected. Removing the radio and not replacing
it with a factory radio or chime module will disable
vehicle chimes.

That is for the alert chimes, not the DIC sound "*****"

I thought they were the same. When my radio sound went out, I had neither chimes nor DIC "*****." I have not actually changed the volume of my chimes, so I really couldn't say.

EDIT: I just tried it and your statement is incorrect. It is for both.

I'm heading to the garage right NOW! I sure hope it has been on the loud setting.

This needs to be in the FAQ section Thanks
