Default Mine sounds like a diesel

Lately, when I start my car from like overnight or after 2-3 hours, it is sounding like a firggin diesel engine.. Even the GF was asking what that clicking/tapping noise was..Like one push rod or lifter is sticking. Goes away once engine temp gets up to 200 degrees.. Oil is clean and normal.

Anyone experiencing this?

Back to the dealer I guess..

It is fine and normal. Some idiot will probably chime in and say that it is piston slap even though it is a made up term by people who do not understand the nature of these motors. These engines are noisy compared to previous GM engines, but it is nothing to worry about. I have been around these motors since they have come out and we have NEVER replaced one due to anything remotely related to so called piston slap. Now lets see who's the first jacka$$ to chime in with the piston slap reason..........

Mine did as well for a while. Changes my oil to 0-40 M1 and have been in lifter bliss ever since. Best rated oil currently available (if you can find it). Commonly available here in Europe,

Yep...definitely piston slap...nah, I thought mine was the only one to notice! Only mine doesn't always go away...I just told the females who asked that it was the first diesel available in the vette . I really hope that it is normal. The last time I heard this amount of noise was with my LT1 with 180k miles on it (I guess the lifters were so warn). I certainly don't mind as long as it's normal

Well, if it's 'normal' it isn't always normal. I've got 13,000 miles on mine and it doesn't make any noise.

I did test drive one that made a huge racket for about 10 seconds after start-up.

Default Diesel Sound ?????

You guys have got to be kidding. If I want diesel sound, I would go buy a diesel truck. How can that be normal for a high performance machine ? I was not pleased when someone told me my C6 engine sounds like a washing machine - and to be honest - it does sound a bit like one. My Borla only helps the other end...

you got the experimental LSD9 diesel motor that runs off both gas and diesel fuels.

P.S. no loud diesel sounds here..sounds like a normal high performance engine to me. 800 miles so far on my 07 c6.

44,000 miles on C6...never had noise, hope never do!!

Had piston slap on the C5. At first GM said normal. Yeah, later "they"
rebuilt it !!

If I had noise on C6 from my experience would seriously doubt it is intended

I assume if that occurs after warranty is out, you are on your own. Wish my '06 has the longer warranty the '07 has.

That's what GMPP extended warranties are for. It was also my experience at least with the C5 that if you got past 20k miles without the noise occuring you were o k . Mine was rebuilt at 15k

Mine doesn't sound anything like a diesel, either.

My LS2 motor has been kind of noisy since day one. It doesn't sound like a diesel though. The noise is more like ticking...like 2 dozen little stopwatches under the hood.
