I believe it might have something to do with the ALUMINUM frame on the Z06.
I believe MickMike1 was alluding to the fact that the same excuse for not having a ragtop was used for the C5 Z06. The C6 has similar power and handling to the C5 Z06 yet the top comes down ... neither has an aluminum frame.
As opposed to the 40-50+ grand lingenfelter charges for some of their work? I think Hennessey charges the same for their Viper kits. Some items are expensive. Some people can afford it.
I continue to be amazed by people who are certain that they know better than the factory. The factory said the car needs a roof for structural support but some people just know better. Not being an automotive engineer I tend to trust the factory on such matters and would not consider a Z06 with the top removed.
Then again, it was the same bunch of engineers at GM who gave us all the flying tops so who do we trust?

My personal preference would be for a Z06 with a fixed roof and flat back window etc.
Rydell Chevrolet in Northridge CA., also had one on display at their all GM show earlier this month. The Conversion was done in their own body shop, and available to anyone with a Z. I did not see a price, but I believe it still carried the GM warrantee, but I would not swear to it. Looked good though.

.................however I am very impressed if someone takes a real ZO6 and converts to coupe or vert so long as they don't remove the ZO6 badging to make it appear as something it is not .................others don't agree with my logical reasoning and that is ok.
