Default 07 Dbs

My 4 week old 07 this morning had a dead battery after sitting for 2 days. I have read many threads regarding DBS on 05's and I think 06's. Has anyone else with an 07 had the same issue with DBS or do I have something else wrong? The DIC indicates the system is charging. I replaced the battery and will be contacting the dealer tomorrow.

Thanks

I discovered that even with a brand new car, the battery needs to be charged up. I prefer doing it myself so I can keep an eye on things, and it's one of the first things I do after getting the new baby home.

I left my 07 m6 sit for two weeks while on vacation and it fired up with no problems.

Default IMHO, unless a daily driver, use a trickle maintainer.

These cars are really electically demanding, (unless your turn off every feature you can), they need a good alternator charge often. I put a maintainer on just the other day. It is surprising how often the "charging" light comes on just sitting in the garage.
The maintainer is a cheap <$20 investment.

DBS can only affect '05 MN6. You have to have the 'shutdown in reverse' requirement to even begin to think about DBS, per se.
You have to have a different reason for a dead battery.
Most commonly, in a new car is just that the battery has been sitting too long in transit and at the dealer and needs a good long and tapering charge or a long drive...

thanks guys, along with the battery i also bought a battery tender, and will not let the car sit more than over night with out it. The only thing I can think of is that I left my Valentine 1 on for the 2 days. Other than that the car was in Reverese and i assume all else was off.

Anyone know how much current the V1 draws?

If you are going to get a charger don't get a cheap trickle charger. It continues to feed voltage to the battery which will ultimately cause problems if you leave it connected.

Get a Battery Tender Plus. This will charge, then stop charging and monitor, and then charge as needed. I got mine on Ebay for $44 with free ground shipping. I bought it from ralco1201. He has a 100% rating with 5,794 sales!

Some others had it cheaper but the shipping charges made it more expensive plus ralco had a 100% rating.

I use it primarily when the car will not be driven for an extended period of time. I have not had any battery problems and have had my 07 since the middle of August.

The V1 will not drain your battery overnight, but I'm told that a week can do it. No personal experience beyond overnight.

Default no DBS with my '07 Coupe

I have left my 2007 parked for a few weeks while away on a business trip. NO ISSUES WITH THE BATTERY.

I think that if you using the car in daily driving, the battery will be fine.

Like a classic car in storage, if you only use it on weekends for a few hours at a time, you are not giving the battery a chance to get fully charged.

If the battery was weak in the first place and not kept a charge it could be a problem.

I ended up installing a Priority Start on my 07' and other cars just in case.
