My a/c compressor has stopped working. Unlike other issues in the FAQS (those I could find), this isn't intermittent hot and cold - it just blows ambient air. I've turned AUTO on and off, adjusted manually (from 61 to 84), used the snowflake button, all to no avail. The compressor fuse is not blown, and the rear view mirror (on the same circuit as the a/c controls, I think) still works, so it doesn't seem to be that. The compressor just doesn't engage.
I'm taking the car in tomorrow for roof glueing, and am hoping someone might have a suggestion to offer the dealer. This will be my first dealer service experience, and I'm a bit concerned.
Thanks in advance!
Did you check your fuse, check for a loose connector, or damaged wire. One other item that will cause this is if you had a leak and the compressor's low limit is keeping the unit from engaging due to low freon. Just a thought.
Although not likely, be sure the 2 sensors inside the car are not covered up or obstructed. One is the solar sensor on top of the dash near the windshield. The other is a temperature sensor just to the left of the ignition switch.

I wouldnt be too concerned. It sounds as if it will be a fairly "obvious" fix for your dealer. Id only be concerned if your service guy starts to walk towards you scratching his head.
